Previously:

-----------

[December 31, 1907] -

Pogue Young was shot and killed by his brother-in-law, Charles King, at a turkey shooting near Boones Gap in Rockcastle county. King made his escape. [1]

---

[January 3, 1908] -

Christmas passed off quietly all over the county with the exception of a little shooting affair at Conway the particulars of which we have been unable to obtain. [2]

---

[January 10, 1908] -

Charley King, who shot and killed Bogue Young at Boone Christmas week, had his exam[i]ning trial and was held under a $2000 bond which he failed to give.

The evidence on the exam[i]ning trial made a pretty strong case against King, who is a young man, was as also Young. [3]

[January 14, 1908] -

Chas. King, who killed Bogue Young at Boone, Rockcastle county, was held over in $2,000, which he was unable to give. [4]

---

[April 3, 1908] -

Charley King for killing Tom Young, 6 years in the pen. This killing occurred at Conway last Xmas, which King claims was purely an accident, but the jury could not reconcile all the facts to such a story. [5]

---

[May 1, 1908] -

Sheriff R. L. McFerron and Deputy G. S. Griffin took Callie Mullins, Charlie King and Grover Allen to the pen Tuesday. Mullins sent for striking A. Pennington with brass knucks, King for killing a young man by the name of Young, and Allen charged with bigamy. Allen on reaching Frankfort was taken to the Governors office, where he found awaiting him, the most precious and most highly appreciate present he has or will ever receive, a full and complete pardon and on Wednesday night returned to his home in this county in company with the sheriffs who had taken him away, the night before, not as a prisoner but as a free citizen. While in a legal sense young Allen may have been guilty of the charge yet in a moral sense he was not guilty and we are glad to see him a free man again. [6]
